Steve Gravells is our Chief Instructor (Sail) and Stan Davies our Chief Instructor (Power / Rib). Together with Eddie Hill our sailing school Principal, they ensure that the sailing school maintains a high standard.
Ocean Village Marina Facilities. Firstaway is therefore at the
very heart of this rejuvenating yachting centre, where major changes are underway to provide top-notch facilities, including a 15 storey 4 star hotel, with 'stern-to' mooring for superyachts.
With good deep water access available at all tides (24/7) most superyachts prefer to stay in this sought
after and expanding location.
Ocean Village now has new wine bars and restaurants locally.
The Royal Southampton Yacht Club has excellent food and always welcomes visiting yachts and their crews, with Dame Ellen being one of its more famous members.
Location, Location, Location. Ocean Village Marina being centrally placed in The Solent, provides a very flexible and easy access to destinations such as Chichester Harbour in the east to Lymington and Yarmouth in the west.
Passage plans for longer voyages in particular, can easily accommodate changes in the states / directions of the tide and of the wind, thereby maximising the benefits of sailing in the protected Solent waters, prior to exiting east of the Isle of Wight via Bembridge Ledge buoy or west of the Isle of Wight via the Needles or North Channels.
So the Solent provides some of the best sailing in the country, with a wide range of marinas, harbours, quiet estuaries to explore and some excellent hosteleries to patronise.
