HISTORIC TOURS: Why not combine good sailing with visits to memorable ports of historic and cultural interest. Something for everyone aboard to enjoy.

COWES: just soak up the ambience of the busiest yachting centre in the world. Origin of the America's Cup; watch the racing and stroll thro' the narrow cobbled streets - the pubs and restaurants are great here. Visit Osborne House, Queen Victoria's magnificent summer residence, open to the public and a short bus or taxi ride from East Cowes Marina.

PORTSMOUTH ROYAL DOCKYARD: go aboard and see the famous sailing ships of bygone days. Lord Nelson sailed from here in Victory to win the battle of Trafalgar. The museums are excellent and will be enjoyed by all.

BEAULIEU: peace and tranquility from this beautiful river in the heart of the New Forest. Visit for a couple of hours or stay overnight in the Marina with a drink and/or supper at the 'Montague Arms'. You may even have time to take in Lord Montague's private car collection at Beaulieu Motor Museum. Or how about an evening forest walk ending with a drink at the 'Master Builders' in Bucklers Hard where most of Henry VIII's fleet was built.

YARMOUTH, IOW: charming, pretty village of days gone by - everyones favourite. Lovely coastal walks to the Needles and across the Island to Freshwater or Tennison Down. Great pubs and restaurants; spectacular sunsets.

NEWTOWN, IOW: this natural, totally unspoilt harbour is a nature reserve, providing peace and tranquility except, of course, for the call of the many birds. Visitors moorings are provided and a run ashore in the dinghy to the local Pub is a must!

LYMINGTON: lots to see; a busy port with good shopping, good pubs and good restaurants. Moor against the town quay or in the marina and visit the quaint cobbled High Street with all the amenities this busy little town has to offer including a market!

YOURS FOR THE ASKING: All these ports can be reached in a 2 to 4 hour sail from Ocean Village, so why not visit a couple in a day? There is just too much good sailing in the Solent and too many nice places to visit! But the choice is yours and the skipper will look after you whatever you choose. Or you may have some ideas of your own...
