Location - Firstaway has its Office and Tuition classroom on site at Ocean Quay Marina, sited alongside the River Itchen and a few hundred yards down-stream from Shamrock Quay Marina where the yachts are moored. SO14 5QY and SO14 5QL respectively.

Shamrock Quay Marina (SQM) is a good location for chartering having full time access and modern, spacious moorings. If requested the Harbour Office staff will assist one in mooring up - helpful in some wind and tide conditions.
It also has a Chandlery, Pub, Restaurant and the 'Yellow Welly'snack bar where a good English breakfast can be found.
The Tesco Express mini supermarket at Ocean Village Marina is only a few minutes away by car for those last minute bits and pieces.
Southampton city centre with all its amenities is only a short drive away.

The toilet block is modern, adjacent to the Harbour office, which incorporates a small shop section. We have found the staff to be very helpful.
The carparking facilities are good with free parking in the public area (which tends to be freed up at weekends) and a dedicated bertholders car park close to A & B pontoons.

The Firstaway berths reside mostly on 'A' and 'B' pontoons and are accessed by a security gate at the southern end of the marina.
Boat access into the marina can be gained at any state of the tide, although care should be taken in respect of the tide - 1 hour before low water and 1 hour before high water.

Directions - See maps
- From the M27 exit 3,
take the M271 and follow the Dock Gate signs past IKEA and Town Quay to Platform Road. Continue on towards the Itchen Bridge western access, proceed straight over the roundabout onto the B3038. Then onto the Southampton football ground on your left and at the mini roundabout take the right fork into Belvidere Rd and the gated entrance into Ocean Quay can be found on the right.
To join the boats, continue on Belividere Rd into Millbank Street and turn right at the Pub on the corner with William Street. The entrance to Shamrock Quay can be found on the right. Pontoons A & B are accessed via a security gate (code will be provided) directly accross the boat yard from Shamrock Chandlery.
From M3/M27 junc 5, Take the A33 off the M3 or the A335 off the M27 junc5 into Southampton. These routes join up at Jurys Inn roundabout. Follow the A33 to the roundabout at the western end of the Itchen Bridge, turn left onto the B3038 and proceed as above.
From the M27 juncs 7 & 8, come in on the A3024 (take care with the 30mph cameras on this route), over Northam Bridge, turn immediately left at the traffic lights, then into Millbank Street. Reversing the above instructions, William Street / Shamrock Quay will be a turning to your left, as will be the entrance to Ocean Quay a little further on. If you reach the football ground you have gone too far.

Unless otherwise agreed, there is no need to call into our office, just phone and we will meet you on the pontoons at the boats.

Trollies can be found in the Berth Holders car park or behind the Harbour Office. They take £1 coins.
