This course is recommended for anyone intending to go on vessels equipped with a Marine Radio. It is an essential safety aid and the correct use of the Marine Radio and its DSC facilities in an emergency might just be down to you? Learn how to save yourself and your fellow crew and colleagues. Equally applicable to leisure and work places.
The qualification is also a prerequisite for MCA Coastal Skipper & Yachtmaster exams

This course is recommended to anyone who is unaware how to administer initial First Aid treatment in the case of emergencies. Learn how to help save others lives, at sea or ashore! In an emergency could you 'cope'if it were just be down to you? Equally applicable to leisure and work places.
The qualification is also a prerequisite for MCA Coastal Skipper & Yachtmaster exams

Mechanical failure is the main cause of lifeboat callout to yachts and motor cruisers. This course covers basic maintenace, trouble shooting and engine care. It will help to ensure that you dont get into danger due to mechanical failure or lack of remedial knowledge. Don't become part of the breakdown statistics! |

Radar is a great aid to safety! See in the fog - know what the others are doing and avoid collisions. The aim of the RYA one day course is to teach students the theory of Radar (& AIS) and how to use a basic small boat radar. Also how to interpret the Radar screen and use its outputs to assist in navigation, pilotage and collision avoidance decision making.
In addition we offer a seaborne practitioner extended course that allows you to practice your newly acquired Radar skills in the real environment, using a real Radar. Can you advise the helmsman how to avoid the buoys and vessels in Southampton Water? Give it a go - it is really the only way to learn, appreciate the finer points and gain confidence.. |

Highly recommended for all who go to sea. Every crew member should be familiar with the basics of sea survival, when and when not to get into a Liferaft, the importance of a 'crutch strap' and why a 'spray hood' can save your life. Practice in a pool and be far better equipped if you meet the survival situations for real at sea!.
